Tuesday night Orioles game thread: vs. Royals, 7:05

The Orioles are undefeated so far in the Jeremy Hellickson era! He's not pitching tonight, though - it's Dylan Bundy up against the Royals.

The Orioles currently have 51 wins. A very optimistic scenario might have 85 wins being enough to sneak into the wild card game. That doesn't sound like very many wins, but if the Orioles are going to get even that far, they're going to have to go 34-23 over the remaining 57 games. Is that do-able? Sure. With this rotation? Well...

One thing that would make it seem just a little bit more likely is if people can start pitching better. Maybe one of those people can be Dylan Bundy tonight? Since the Orioles are chasing the Royals for that wild card spot, the next two games will be important to win, if they can.

Bundy hasn't really been good since May, and with the acquisition of Jeremy Hellickson, it may be a sign that they're going to shy away from Bundy the rest of the way. So that's something.

Tonight will mark the Orioles debut of recently-acquired shortstop Tim Beckham. He's wearing #1, which of course belongs to Brian Roberts, but hopefully Beckham can take OK care of it for a little while.

Maybe they can score some more runs than last night and still get good pitching. Stranger things have happened.
