Friday Bird Droppings: Tillman's troubles take toll

After a five game winning streak, last night's performance was not great, but not totally awful, either. Sure, Chris Tillman is a hot mess, but...triple play! Another multihit game for Tim Beckham! A loss is a loss, though.

On this day in 1996, Earl Weaver and Ned Hanlon were inducted to the Hall of Fame. Weaver's exploits are legendary, of course, but Hanlon was the innovative manager of the turn of the century Birds teams that gave us the Baltimore chop, the hit and run, Wee Willie Keeler and Hughie Jennings. Mike Mussina took a no-no into the 8th on this day in 1998.

Who says nothing good came out of the Bronx? B.J. Surhoff turns 53. Much maligned organizational dude Dave Stockstill also celebrates a birthday today.
