Sunday Bird Droppings: Where it’s time for the Orioles to do something

Another lazy Sunday for the Orioles

Happy Sunday, Camden Chatters. Another day without word that the Orioles have done anything to improve their team for 2018. It’s getting absurd.

We are now 67 days from Opening Day. That’s not many days at all, really. 67 is the jersey number worn by Trey Mancini when he was called up in 2016. He went with the more respectable 16 for his rookie year in 2017.

We’re also 23 days until pitchers and catchers report for spring training. That’s it! I’m sure Mike Wright is looking forward to getting that last spot in the rotation.

The links are few today, friends.

Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! Today is the birthday of former Orioles manager and player Johhny Oates. He passed away in 2004 and Buck Showalter wears #26 to honor him.

It’s also the birthday of Sam Mele, who spent 1954 with the Orioles; Bob Reynolds, a relief pitcher with the Birds from 1972-75; and Keith Shepherd, who put up a 8.71 ERA in 13 appearances for the 1996 team.
