It’s hump day, Camden Chatters! We’re halfway through the work week, another week in which the Orioles have done nothing. I’m starting to feel silly talking about it every single time I start one of these posts, but what else can I do? This is a website about the Orioles.
We are now 64 days from Opening Day, and it will be here before you know it. Really. The number 64 appears to be a popular choice for players just getting called up from the minors as Jim Johnson, Bruce Chen, Brad Bergesen, and Pedro Strop all wore it in their first stints with the Orioles before moving on to their regular uniform number. It has been worn the past two seasons by Jayson Aquino, who I assume we will also see on the team this year.
It’s also just 20 days until pitchers and catchers report for spring training. That is hardly any days at all. Unless the Orioles make some big changes soon that is gonna be one ragtag bunch reporting for duty.

Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You share this day with two former Orioles. Ashur Tolliver was a 5th round draft pick for the Orioles in 2009 and made his debut for the O’s in 2016. He saw action in five entire games that season, then ended up in the Houston system for the 2017 season. He is currently a free agent, and he turns 30 today.
Tim Stoddard turns 65 today, a big one! Stoddard was a relief pitcher who appeared in 229 games for the Orioles from 1978-1983. Those were not bad years to be an Oriole, I gotta say.
On this day in 1961 the Orioles and the Kansas City Athletics made a six-player trade. The Orioles received Whitey Herzog and Russ Snyder in exchange for Wayne Causey, Jim Archer, Bob Boyd, and Al Pilarcik. Maybe the Orioles will make a trade today!
