Hello Camden Chatters, and happy Wednesday. One of these days I will get to start off Bird Droppings with talking about a recent move made by the Orioles and what I think of it. Today is not that day.

Cataloging an off-season’s worth of thoughts in Bird Droppings where nothing happens isn’t the most glamorous job, but someone has to do it.

We are now 57 days from Opening Day. It’s really getting close! Donnie Hart is the most recent Oriole to wear number 57. You might be saying to yourself, didn’t Mark just tell me yesterday that Donnie Hart wore number 58? Yes, he did. Hart wore both 57 and 58 last year, losing number 58 when veteran Jeremy Hellickson was traded to the team. The number 57 was also worn by Jake Arrieta in his rookie season.

Even closer than Opening Day is the day that pitchers and catchers report to Florida to kick off spring training. That number is just 13! In my mind’s eye I can already see the blurry cell phone pics from Roch and Britt, assuring us that everyone is in the best shape of their lives.

What’s that, you say? You’d prefer I stop rambling and get to the links? Fine.

It's a big job, certainly. But maybe he can do it?

Darren O'Day objects to a pitch clock. He strenuously objects.

Schoop's Fanfest skip will blow over; Machado's position switch -
I'm not ready to skewer Schoop, that's for sure. I will angrily glare at people who boo him on Opening Day.

Whose WAR is Whose? Duquette vs. MacPhail and others - Camden Depot
Did Andy MacPhail really put the pieces in place for the Orioles' successful five-year run? Or does Dan Duquette deserve the credit?

Why you should follow Adam Jones on Twitter - Birds Watcher
I do believe that you should follow Adam Jones on Twitter, but I also think that Kristen Bentley is another Orioles writer running out of ideas in this off season of inaction.

In light of the recent news that MLB is considering cutting down on mound visits to try and speed up the game, Meg Rowley took a look at all 12 mound visits Brian McCann made during game seven of the World Series.

Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You have just one Orioles birthday buddy, and he’s nothing to write home about. Joel Bennett appeared in seven major league games in his career, including two one-inning relief appearances for the Orioles in 1999. He gave up one run, good for a 4.50 ERA. He turns 48 year old today.
