Tuesday ALCS + NLCS open thread

New, comments

Both the ALCS and the NLCS will move along on Tuesday night - Game 3 in the AL of the 1-1 Red Sox-Astros Series, and Game 4 in the NL of the 2-1 Brewers-Dodgers series.

There are going to be two baseball games tonight and two baseball games tomorrow and after that, depending on how the results shake out, there may not be any multi-game days on the calendar until the end of next March.

Even though the postseason will remain a Red Sox love fest for as long as they are still in it, do the best you can to enjoy this postseason while it lasts because it’s going to be a long winter for Orioles fans where we already know not much will happen except for new executives and coaches getting (hopefully) hired before the end of the World Series.

With one series in Houston and the other in Los Angeles, and with MLB apparently pathologically unable to allow postseason games to be scheduled in such a way that they’re expected to go on simultaneously, the time table today looks a little weird:

  • ALCS Game 3: Red Sox-Astros, 5:09. TV: TBS. Starting pitchers: Nathan Eovaldi (BOS), Dallas Keuchel (HOU)
  • NLCS Game 4: Brewers-Dodgers, 9:09. TV: FS1. Starting pitchers: Gio Gonzalez (MIL), Rich “The Blister” Hill (LA)

As you probably already know, the ALCS is tied at a game apiece after the opening two games in Boston. The Brewers hold a 2-1 edge in their best-of-seven against the Dodgers after pulling off a Game 3 win in LA last night.

Since the ALCS will be on first, here are the starting lineups for the home team Astros:

  1. George Springer - CF
  2. Jose Altuve - DH
  3. Alex Bregman - 3B
  4. Yuli Gurriel - 1B
  5. Marwin Gonzalez - 2B
  6. Josh Reddick - RF
  7. Carlos Correa - SS
  8. Brian McCann - C
  9. Tony Kemp - LF

And for the visiting Red Sox, who will hopefully never win another game in the entire existence of their franchise from this day forward:

  1. Mookie Betts - RF
  2. Andrew Benintendi - LF
  3. J.D. Martinez - DH
  4. Xander Bogaerts - SS
  5. Steve Pearce - 1B
  6. Eduardo Nunez - 3B
  7. Ian Kinsler - 2B
  8. Christian Vasquez - C
  9. Jackie Bradley Jr. - CF
