It’s hump day! That’s right, we’re halfway through the week and inching closer to Opening Day. In fact, we’re just two days from the very first spring training game of the season. That’s something! If you’ll be home on Friday or if you can watch TV at work, the first spring game will be on MASN. I won’t be able to watch it, so be sure to let me know how great Michael Kelly and Andrew Susac look.
As for real baseball, we are down to just 36 days until Opening Day. We’re closing in on one month! Uniform number 36 is worn by endearing catcher Caleb Joseph. Don’t you just want to be his friend?
Orioles' continued pursuit for lefty outfield bat leading them to Colby Rasmus - Baltimore Sun
The story says Rasmus could be signed in a few days. The other lefty/switch hitters still out there are Melky Cabrera, Jon Jay, Carlos Gonzalez, Michael Saunders and Andre Ethier. Would you rather have any of them than Rasmus?
MLB's top 10 second basemen for 2018 | Yardbarker.com
This site ranks Jonathan Schoop as the third-best second baseman in baseball. Take that, Daniel Murphy!
Inside Cal Ripken Jr.’s Baltimore County estate - The Washington Post
OK so none of us is going to buy Cal Ripken's house. But every Saturday and Sunday leading up to the auction on May 12th there will be an open house. I don't guess I can just walk up and wander around the house the way I do for other open houses??
Baltimore Orioles: The need for a win-now attitude - Birds Watcher
This writer is frustrated that the Orioles aren't doing all they can to win in 2018 since they lose so many key players at the end of the season. Regardless of if you agree with her stance or if you think they should be tearing it down, it's tough to watch this waffling in the middle.
This, that and the other - School of Roch
The headline on the front of MASNsports.com was "Despite Presley signing, O's will continue to consider lefty batting OFs." Then you click through and it says, "This, that, and the other." Why can't the editors also change Roch's dumb titles on the page they are written?
Chris Tillman is Back and I Feel Fine - Camden Depot
Maybe it's not so bad?
Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You have just one Orioles birthday buddy. Tom Shopay, who Baseball Reference lists as a pinch hitter and outfielder, played for the 1971-72 and 1975-77 teams. Mr. Shopay turns 73 years old today.
