The Orioles open a four-game series against the first-place Red Sox with their shakiest starter on the mound. No, not Mike Wright. The other one.

It's Friday. But not just any Friday. It's Friday the 13th, the day that's long been associated with bad luck and ill fortune.

"Pshaw," you say. "I'm not superstitious. There's nothing unlucky about Friday the 13th. That's just an old wives' tale."

While walking down the street, you step in a puddle of mud, ruining your new pants.

"Eh, that's not because it's Friday the 13th," you say. "That could've happened any day."

You go to buy a cup of coffee and realize you left your wallet on the bus.

"There's no connection," you say, annoyed. "I'm telling you, there's nothing unlucky about Friday the 13th."

You check the Orioles' schedule. You discover that Chris Tillman (7.92 ERA since 2017) is starting...against the 10-2 Red Sox...at Fenway Park...against a solid young pitcher the Orioles traded away.

"AAAAAGH!" you scream. "It's all true! This day is cursed!!"
