Orioles minor league recap 4/30: Frederick snaps five-game losing streak

The Keys got back on the winning track on Sunday, but no other affiliate did.

Charlotte (White Sox) 6, Norfolk 5

The Norfolk Tides dropped their series after an eighth inning rally from the Charlotte Knights. Jason Gurka allowed two two-out doubles to Jacob May and Eddy Alvarez to give Charlotte the 6-5 lead in the eighth. Austin Wynns had two hits and an RBI, with Drew Dosch singling twice, walking and scoring a run.

Akron Rubberducks (Indians) 7, Bowie 1

Starting pitcher John Means allowed seven runs (two earned) on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched. LHP Reid Love (1.0 IP, H, K) and RHP Ryan Meisinger (2.1 IP, 2 H, 2 K) both had scoreless outings.

D’Arby Myers had a single in the ninth and scored on an RBI single from Erick Salcedo.

Frederick 9, Buies Creek Astros 4

Ryan McKenna was hit by a pitch to begin the first inning. With a Randolph Gassaway single, McKenna advanced to third. Jomar Reyes ground into a fielder’s choice to score McKenna. Frederick wouldn’t look back, scoring eight more runs during the game.

Jhon Peluffo threw five scoreless innings and won the game. In his outing, Peluffo allowed just three hits, striking out four batters and walking two.

Hickory Crawdads 7 (Rangers), Delmarva 6

Alex Katz got the loss on the day, giving up three runs in the ninth inning for the Crawdads comeback. DL Hall went 2.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits with one walk and a season-high six strikeouts.
