Tuesday night game thread: at Angels, 10:07

Stay up late and watch with us, friends!

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Orioles are in Anaheim -- pardon me, Los Angeles of Anaheim -- to kick off their three-game series, with all three starting at 10:07 Eastern time. I heartily applaud all of you intrepid souls who are planning to stay up until the wee hours watching every pitch. I must admit I probably won't be one of them.

The O's were originally slated to face Shohei Ohtani (as a pitcher) in the opener, but his ankle sprain means he won't pitch in this series. Instead, they'll see him as a hitter, possibly in all three games. He's DHing and batting fifth tonight.

But who needs an Ohtani when you have MARK TRUMBO? That's right! Get excited! The Orioles' slugger is making his season debut tonight after missing the first month with a right quad strain. Will Trumbo look more like the All-Star who led the majors in home runs in 2016, or the guy who crash-landed to a .686 OPS in 2017? And more importantly, does it even matter at this point?

If Trumbo's return isn't enough to whet your appetite, the Orioles also have Pedro Alvarez playing third base again, and Chris Davis is back in the lineup against righty Nick Tropeano after riding the bench for two straight games. Also, Alex Cobb is starting. The fun never stops in Birdland.
