Saturday Orioles doubleheader game 2 game thread: vs. Rays

The Orioles will look to continue their winning streak in the nightcap of a doubleheader against the Rays. Alex Cobb and Matt Andriese are the starting pitchers.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

The Orioles have now won four games in a row for the first time all season. Amazingly, they no longer look like the worst team in baseball. For the moment, they are on pace to win 50 games. That sounds bad because it is, but it's progress compared to where they were before this winning streak began. Hopefully, they can keep improving that number because it's just more fun to watch the Orioles win than lose.

They'll have a nice chance to continue the winning streak if Alex Cobb can keep up a stretch of solid starts. The righty did not look good as his season began because the Orioles had to rush him back into duty maybe before he got to have a full "spring training." He has started looking a bit better ever since he got a more typical level of work in. If that trend continues tonight, the O's will have a good chance to win this game.

Here's how they line up behind Cobb for the nightcap:

  1. Trey Mancini - LF
  2. Adam Jones - CF
  3. Manny Machado - SS
  4. Jonathan Schoop - 2B
  5. Chris Davis - 1B
  6. Mark Trumbo - RF
  7. Danny Valencia - DH
  8. Jace Peterson - 3B
  9. Caleb Joseph - C
