Wednesday afternoon Orioles game thread: vs. Phillies, 12:05

Rain kept the Orioles and Phillies from playing on Tuesday night. It might keep them from playing a full game on Wednesday afternoon, too, but they're at least going to try to get it started and see what happens.

The Orioles and the Phillies are going to play a game this afternoon, or so the story goes. What was already going to be a 12:35 start time has been moved up by half an hour due to the threat of inclement weather. As we all recall, inclement weather already wiped out Tuesday night's game.

The rain ceased overnight but there are more showers in the area. Hopefully, for the afternoon, these are not the kind of showers that will cause a baseball game to be delayed or postponed.

For the O's, the rainout means that they don't have to press any spot starter into duty for this game. If Andrew Cashner had pitched last night, Miguel Castro was going to start today. But Cashner didn't pitch last night, so he's starting today, and the next three games afterwards are spoken for too. Will the Orioles try Castro on Sunday, or bring back David Hess for another audition? That probably depends on how the next few days go.

On the off chance that a game is played today and the Orioles manage to win it, they will have reached a .333 winning percentage for the first time since April 14, when they were 5-10. There is a long way to go to respectability and the next five games are against second place teams in good divisions, so, you know, I won't be holding my breath or anything.
