Louisville Bats 4, Norfolk Tides 2
The Tides were on the wrong side of a close game last night, losing by only two runs. The Bats’ starting pitcher, Robert Stephenson, was able to scatter seven hits and two runs over five innings, and the Tides were unable to score off any other pitchers.
D.J. Stewart went 1-for-3 at the plate with a home run, one walk and one RBI. It was his fourth home run on the year, leaving his batting average at .269. Catcher Austin Wynns went 0-for-3 with a walk. Renato Nunez was 1-for-4 with a double and two strikeouts.
Tim Melville had a poor start for the Tides, allowing four runs in 4.1 innings on eight hits, one walk, four strikeouts and two home runs. His ERA went from 2.97 to 3.54.
Trenton Thunder 2, Bowie Baysox 0
Bowie’s offense was held silent in this one, getting shut out by the Thunder in a lightning fast game that lasted only two hours and five minutes.
Anthony Santander, Ademar Rifaela, Ryan Mountcastle and Austin Hays all went hitless on the night. Cedric Mullins was 1-for-3 with a walk to raise his season average to .268. He had the lone hit of the game for the Baysox, and he was also caught stealing once. Hays successfully stole a base, his fourth of the season.
Despite the loss, Lucas Long had a solid start for the Baysox, pitching six innings of one run ball with four hits, three walks and one strikeout. Reid Love followed him to the mound and allowed one run over two innings with two hits, one home run and one strikeout.

Frederick will play a double header against Myrtle Beach on Sunday, with the first game starting at noon.
