Bowie took advantage of two costly errors to come away with a 7-5 victory, and Collin Woody powered Frederick to a low-scoring win.

Pawtucket (Red Sox) 5, Norfolk Tides 1

The Tides gave this one away early. Pawtucket scored three in the first, and two more in the second to obtain the early advantage. Tides starter Tim Melville allowed six hits and walked three in three innings. Melville, who did not allow more than two runs in any of his four April starts, has come back down to earth in the month of May. His ERA now sits at 4.17, but he still holds a 5-2 record.

Drew Dosch went 2-4 and was the only Norfolk player to record a multi-hit game. Mike Yastrzemski drove in the Tides’ lone run with an RBI double in the third inning. Caleb Joseph went 0-4 at the designated hitter spot.

Bowie Baysox 7, Richmond (Giants) 5

Four players did all of the hitting for Bowie. Cedric Mullins, Corban Joseph, Anthony Santander and Ademar Rifaela each tallied two hits apiece. Bowie claimed the road win with a three-run eighth inning. Two Richmond throwing errors proved to be too costly, with both leading to runs in the top of the frame.

Lucas Long gutted out 5.1 innings of five run ball. Long allowed 11 hits, but did not walk a single batter. Branden Kline picked up his first win in relief. Kline threw 3.1 scoreless innings, and allowed only a single hit and walk.

Frederick Keys 2, Wilmington (Royals) 1

Collin Woody blasted a two-run home run to left field in the top of the fourth, and Frederick held on with a strong pitching performance. Alex Wells worked into the seventh inning and allowed just the one run on a solo shot in the seventh. Tyler Erwin, Elvis Aruajo and Zach Muckenhirn allowed only one hit in scoreless relief. T.J. Nichting finished 2-3 and also worked a walk for the Keys.
