Wednesday night gamethread: vs Nationals, 7:05 pm

The Orioles will try to avoid the sweep as David Hess takes on Max Scherzer. Pretty even match up.

Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports

If the Orioles want to avoid being swept by the Nationals this series they will just have to beat Max Scherzer. No big deal, no problemo. He's just one of the best pitchers in baseball is all.

Actually, it's kind of a relief that the Orioles will be facing a legitimately awesome pitcher tonight. All teams are supposed to lose to Scherzer. If he strikes out double digits, so what? He does that all the time! He's not Andrew Triggs or Dylan Covey or Jeremy Hellickson. Losing to Scherzer isn't an embarrassment! It's simply run of the mill.

So let's get down to it.
