Tuesday night game thread: vs. Red Sox, 7:05 PM

The Orioles will look to rebound in game two of the series against the Red Sox after an extra inning heartbreaker last night.

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Orioles are coming off a tough loss in 12 innings last night, where the pitching was incredibly good but the offense was the opposite. The O's have now lost 12 of their last 14 games. They will try to change the tide tonight against former Oriole Eduardo Rodriguez at Camden Yards.

Rodriguez is putting together a strong campaign for the Red Sox so far this year, with a 7-1 record and a 3.68 ERA to go along with 77 strikeouts in 66 innings. In his career against the O's, Rodriguez is 5-5 with a 3.97 ERA in 12 games started. Opposing the Red Sox for the Orioles will be current rookie sensation David Hess.

In 29.1 innings this year with the big league club, Hess has a 3.07 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He has been one of the few bright spots so far in this brutal season. Hess will look to continue his string of three consecutive quality starts and try to forget the last time he faced the Red Sox. In Boston on May 20th, Hess only lasted 4.2 innings and allowed five runs.

As far as lineup highlights, Manny Machado is back at shortstop after missing last night's game due to illness. Chris Davis is not in the lineup and it's the third time he's been on the bench in the last five games.

In other O's news, Andrew Cashner went on the 10-day disabled list today with a back injury and Donnie Hart was recalled in his place.
