Going into a series finale trying to salvage one game has been an all too common theme for the 2018 Orioles, and it's the case again today. The O's, losers of nine in a row and their last eleven at home, will try for that elusive twentieth win today at Camden Yards. Sadly, one of the storylines this season will be comparing the 2018 Orioles' futility with that of the infamous 1988 team. Both teams were 19-50 at this point in the season. This is fun!
But Dylan Bundy takes the ball for the Orioles today and his numbers during day games give us some encouragement that dads who are being treated to a Father's Day game may see a win. Bundy owns a 1.08 ERA and 0.88 WHIP when pitching while the sun shines this season. He is coming off eight shutout innings against Boston. Miami will counter with rookie Trevor Richards, who has pitched only 34.2 innings this season to the tune of a 4.41 ERA.
Corban Joseph moves back into the leadoff spot and is playing first base as the O's continue giving Chris Davis time to rediscover how to hit a baseball. Buck Showatler said this morning that he hasn't decided if Davis will be ready on Tuesday but hopes he is. Trey Mancini moves back into the outfield after getting the start at first base yesterday.
We received some news regarding injured starting pitchers this morning. Andrew Cashner is feeling good and expects to start in Washington on Wednesday. Chris Tillman will start in Aberdeen on Wednesday as he works his way back from injury.
