Friday Bird Droppings: Where things could be better, if I’m being honest

Britton’s trade value is plummeting, the Orioles have another Hoiles, and more in today’s droppings!

MLB: Seattle Mariners at Baltimore Orioles Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Friday, Camden Chatters! The good news is that the weekend is here! The bad news is that you are an Orioles fan. It’s gonna be a hot one this weekend so you might want to stay inside in the air condition. If you must go outside over the weekend, I highly suggest doing so poolside.

It’s an exciting weekend in my family because tomorrow we are taking our daughter to her very first Orioles game! As bad as the Orioles are, this is still exciting. She turns one in two weeks, which means that thankfully she is too young to know just how awful the Orioles are this season.

Yesterday’s game went about the same as most of the O’s games this season, and you know what that means. But if you really want to read about it, Paul has the details in his recap of the game.

There isn't much going right with the team on the field, so I'm glad there are stories like this. Well done, Nicholas!

The son of Chris Hoiles has signed with the Orioles. This makes me happy.

Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You have two Orioles birthday buddies, neither of whom spent much time with the team. Pedro Viola appeared in six games in the 2010 and 2011 seasons, while Dizzy Trout saw action in two games for the 1957 team. Trout had a 15 year major league career before taking a five-year break and attempting a comeback with the Orioles at the age of 42. It didn’t really go well. You can read all about him at SABR.org. Dizzy passed away in 1972.

On this day in 2013 Chris Davis hit two home runs, his 29th and 30th.
