Thursday night Orioles game thread: vs. Phillies, 6:05

The Orioles will square up against the Phillies tonight to make up a rain out in May. Machado rumors will likely dominate the headlines, but the Orioles have a chance to get off on the right foot before Texas comes to town.

The Phillies are swinging by Baltimore for a make-up matchup after a rain out in mid-May. Will the Phillies leave town with Manny Machado? It's highly unlikely. Hopefully they won't leave Baltimore with a win either.

Kevin Gausman gets the nod for the Orioles in the 6:05 start. Gausman picked up a win July 1 by throwing eight innings of two run ball. He did not receive a decision his last time out. If Gausman has any chance of picking up a win, the Orioles will have to score more runs than they did last night.

The Birds will square off against Nick Pivetta. Pivetta is 5-7 with a 4.62 ERA, and he broke a five game losing streak with a win in relief against the Nationals on July 1. The real question will be what Orioles offense will show up. After being blanked last night, Baltimore will try to jump out early on Pivetta. The lineup is relatively predictable, with Chance Sisco doing the catching and Jace Peterson manning left field.

If the Orioles win, we'll call it a one-game series victory. If they lose, well, it's just a make-up game anyway...
