Sunday Bird Droppings: Where Manny leaving hasn’t changed a thing

The Orioles go into the final game of the series today looking to, say it with me, avoid the sweep.

Happy Sunday, Camden Chatters! How as your weekend gone? If you’re in the Maryland area you probably were kept inside by the pouring rain that lasted all day. Well, get used to it. We could definitely use the rain, but that won’t keep us complaining about it once it’s here!

The Orioles are safe in a dome in Toronto, doing what they do best: losing. They dropped another contest yesterday and the loss put Alex Cobb’s record at an unsightly 2-13. I gotta say, I didn’t expect that when they signed him. I guess nobody is going to trade for him, huh? If you missed yesterday’s game you can check out Ben Hansford’s recap of the not-so-lovely totals.

Dodgers Among Teams With Continued Interest In Orioles' Zach Britton -
This is information that would have been helpful last week!

Fry is Showalter's pleasant surprise out of bullpen -
I mean nothing against either Richard Bleier or Paul Fry, but it's kind of pathetic when they are referred to as one of the few bright spots this season.

Baseball shouldn't reward practice of tanking - Worcester Telegram
This old guy thinks that the draft should be a lottery so that tanking isn't rewarded, because haven't Orioles fans suffered enough? Bill, you have a Red Sox logo next to your name so pardon me if I think your suggesting a draft lottery isn't for the benefit of the Orioles and Royals fans.

Cleveland Indians: The Orioles are still a good trade partner - Factory of Sadness
This guy suggests a trade of Mychal Givens, Zach Britton, and Adam Jones for SS Yu-Cheng Chang and 3B Nolan Jones. That is their number 6 and number 3 prospect. What do you think? Is that a fair trade?

This, that and the other - School of Roch
I'll be honest and say that every time i see "This, that and the other" or "Leftovers for breakfast" from Roch, it annoys me. Just tell me what is in your story! This one is about the prospects in the Manny trade, Gentry's injury, and Tillman's departure.

With rebuild officially underway, Orioles begin preparations for 'another good cycle' - Baltimore Sun
Time will tell if the Orioles will do what it takes to properly rebuild, but the fact that they are actually talking about it is very refreshing.

Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You share a birthday with the O’s fireballing lefty Tanner Scott. Scott turns 24 years old today. I hope he gets a win for his big day.

On this day in 1996, Eddie Murray rejoined the Orioles and hit his 493rd career home run. His return also featured a game in which the Indians’ Jim Thome walked on just three balls because the umpire didn’t keep track (and apparently neither did anyone in the Orioles dugout) and the next batter, Albert Belle, hit a three-run homer.
