Orioles minor league recap 7/24: Frederick drops a pair, it rains elsewhere

Frederick was the only Orioles farm team to see action last night, but O’s affiliates still went 0-2. The Keys dropped both games of a doubleheader, while Bowie and Delmarva were rained out.

Bowie Baysox 0, Binghamton (Mets) 0. POSTPONED

This one made it into the second inning before rain halted play. Neither team scored. Luis Ysla allowed two hits in two innings for Bowie, and no Baysox players recorded a hit.

The game will resume today at 5:05 and remain a nine-inning contest. The two will play a seven-inning game following the conclusion of the first.

GAME ONE: Wilmington (White Sox) 8, Frederick Keys 0

Wilmington blanked the Keys 8-0 in the first of two in Frederick. Zac Lowther allowed three runs, with only one earned, on six hits in six innings. Lowther issued three walks and struck out three Wilmington batters.

Wilmington jumped on reliever Matt Trowbridge for five runs in the top of the seventh. Mercifully, the game was only slated for seven innings. Frederick committed a pair of errors in the game that led to two unearned runs for Lowther. Still, with the bats going silent, Lowther never stood a chance at a win.

GAME TWO: Wilmington (White Sox) 7, Frederick Keys 6

Frederick held its own in this one, but still came up short. Wilmington scored the first four in the second, but Frederick stormed back with four of its own in the third. Preston Palmeiro finished 3-4, while Wilson Garcia and Randolph Gassaway both went 2-4. Jake Ring reached base three times from the nine-hole.

Lucas Humpal started for Frederick and allowed four runs in three innings. Steven Klimek replaced Humpal and allowed a pair of runs in three innings. Klimek took the loss, while Elvis Araujo gave up a run in the seventh.

Delmarva Shorebirds at Hagerstown (Nationals) POSTPONED
