It’s been an eventful 24 hours in Birdland. Last night, Zach Britton was traded to the Yankees. Today, Chris Tillman was officially released. And Jon Morosi wrote this afternoon about contending clubs’ interest in Adam Jones. Other than that, it’s business as usual.
But there is a game to play this evening if the weather cooperates. Dylan Bundy (6-9, 4.57) will take the mound for the O’s in an attempt to get his season back on track. He was putting together a decent season until an injury in Atlanta. His ERA in his three starts since returning from the disabled list is 10.95.
David Price (11-6, 4.17) will pitch for Boston. He is coming off of 6.1 scoreless innings tossed against the Tigers. Luckily for Baltimore, known Price-masher Danny Valencia is in the lineup and batting cleanup. Valencia has fifteen hits in twenty-five career at-bats against Price, a stat that should be brought up in trade talks with American League clubs. Mark Trumbo gets the start in right field. Chris Davis is interestingly in the lineup against a left-hander.
Jonathan Schoop will look to continue the offensive tear he is on. He’s hit four home runs in his last five games and is now batting .238. He was batting .197 at the beginning of this month.
It goes without saying that the bullpen will have a different look tonight without Britton. David Hess was recalled from Norfolk to take Britton’s spot in the bullpen. He was scheduled to pitch for the Tides tomorrow, so he is available to eat some innings if needed.
