Mon. doubleheader game thread: Game 1 vs. Yankees, 4:05 PM

The Orioles have lost six in a row and now slog through four games in three days against the Yankees, who are 35 games better than them. Things could get worse before they get better.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

Good news, friends! The Orioles, after their 0-6 road trip through Philadelphia and Minnesota, are finished with away games until the All-Star break. Thank goodness. They have only 12 wins on the road this year.

Now they get to return to Camden Yards, where they...also have only 12 wins this year. Oh.

The Orioles have eight games jam-packed into their final week-long homestand before the All-Star break. They start today with a single-admission doubleheader against the Yankees, the first one being a makeup of a May 31 rainout. I remember being happy about that rainout at the time, thinking that the O's would have an extra month to get their act together before getting another crack at the Yankees. We all know how well that worked out.

If you weren't already feeling dicey about the 24-65 Orioles, losers of six straight, taking on the 58-29 Yankees, consider that Jimmy Yacabonis will be on the mound for game one, making his second major league start. He didn't last five innings in his first one. He'll be facing CC Sabathia and his 3.02 ERA.
