Sat. afternoon Orioles game 1 thread: vs. Red Sox, 1:05

What could be better than watching the worst team in baseball face the best team in baseball? Watching it twice in one day.

Have you recovered from last night’s cringe-fest, where Orioles pitchers walked 10 batters and coughed up 19 runs to the Red Sox?

Let’s hope the Orioles have, because they’re right back in action today — not once, but twice.

Their split doubleheader begins at 1:05. The afternoon contest is the makeup game for the one that was started on July 25, which the Red Sox led against Dylan Bundy, 5-0, in the second inning before rain washed out all statistics. Will the Orioles take advantage of the game starting over from scratch? Bundy sure didn’t make the most of his reprieve last night, getting hammered again by the Sox with no thunderstorms to save him. Jimmy Yacabonis, called up from Norfolk as the Orioles’ 26th man, gets the ball for today’s opener.

After Cedric Mullins’ historic welcome to the bigs last night, in which he became the first Oriole ever to have three hits in his MLB debut, what does he have in store for an encore? He’s moved up one spot in the lineup, to eighth. At this rate, he’ll be batting cleanup next week.
