After a day off yesterday, the Birds are back in action tonight at Camden Yards. The New York Mets visit Camden Yards for a brief two game stay as the O’s wrap up the interleague play portion of their schedule. The Orioles are 6-12 against National League opponents so far this season.
Weather may be an issue tonight. Roch Kubatko tweeted at 5:15 that head groundskeeper Nicole Sherry was talking to both managers on the field during batting practice. As Roch notes, that probably isn’t a good sign.
Renato Nunez moves up to the second spot in the lineup tonight and Tim Beckham slides down to the six hole. Jonathan Villar is once again batting lead off, a position he should get accustomed to. Even though this lineup doesn’t appear that imposing, it will face Jason Vargas and his 8.75 ERA tonight. They should be able to score some runs.
Andrew Cashner will take the mound for the Birds and hopes to build upon a good start his last time out. He has never won a game against the Mets and will try to change that tonight.
Mark Trumbo has been battling some health issues all season and he got a PRP injection in his right knee yesterday. He is obviously healthy enough to serve as designated hitter, but apparently this injury has hindered him all season. Luckily he isn’t needed in the field any time soon.
