Sunday night Orioles game thread: vs. Yankees, 8:00

The nation will get a chance to see just how bad Baltimore has been this year on Sunday Night Baseball. Dylan Bundy and the Orioles will try to appear better than a team on pace for well over 100 losses.

The Orioles strong play against the Yankees quickly came to an end this weekend, but they can still avoid a sweep with a win this evening. After dropping the series opener in extras, and both legs of a double header yesterday, the Birds have one more shot at New York tonight.

Dylan Bundy will try to turn things around tonight. Although it feels like at least one Orioles player has been trying to “turn things around” since April, Bundy is at the top of the list. The former first-round pick has allowed seven runs in each of his last three starts, and hasn’t made it through seven innings since July. He tossed only four innings in his last outing against the Yankees, and allowed five runs on five hits. Bundy has surrendered at least one home run in eight straight starts.

Cedric Mullins will take a seat tonight, but Adam Jones returns to the lineup after taking a half day yesterday. However, Jones will remain in right field and Craig Gentry will play center. Jace Peterson takes left field, Caleb Joseph will do the catching and Trey Mancini will DH.

The season may be lost, but there’s never a bad time to beat the Yankees. Maybe the Orioles have a surprise in store for us tonight.
