Wednesday night Orioles game thread: at Rays, 7:05

Andrew Cashner takes the mound and will look to pick up where Alex Cobb left off last night. Only this time, the Orioles hope to come away with a victory.

The Orioles have had their share of painful defeats this year, and they added another one last night. Miguel Castro surrendered a walk-off home run to Willy Adames, and the Orioles fell 4-3. If for some reason you want to relive the loss, Harrison has you covered here.

Andrew Cashner will look to follow up last night’s quality start by Alex Cobb with one of his own. Cashner was absolutely shelled hist last time out in a 17-8 loss against Texas. He allowed 10 runs on seven hits in less than two innings, and saw his ERA rise above five. He’ll need to be better tonight.

Cashner beat the Rays and picked up his third win of the season on July 27. In that game, the righty worked six innings and allowed only two runs on five hits. Cashner threw 90 pitches against the Rays, and the Orioles bullpen would love to see him be efficient tonight.

Jonathan Villar will lead off for the Orioles, and Caleb Joseph will round out the order behind the plate. Danny Valencia will play right field and Trey Mancini will patrol left. Adam Jones remains in center field, although a shift to right could be coming soon.

Can the Orioles avenge last night’s loss and pick up a victory in Tampa Bay? Let’s find out!
