Saturday afternoon Orioles game thread: at Yankees, 4:05

Eight runs was not enough for the Orioles last night. They’ll likely need another strong offensive performance if they hope to pull off a win in New York.

DJ Stewart is in the two hole for the Orioles in the second of a three-game series against the Yankees. Stewart came off the bench last night and hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning off of Yankees reliever David Robertson. The Orioles eventually fell 10-8, and you can read Mark Brown’s recap here.

Cedric Mullins is atop the order once again, and Adam Jones will complete the outfield while batting cleanup. Watching Jones play his final what are likely his final games in a Baltimore uniform continues to be one of the few reasons to watch the Orioles.

Trey Mancini will take first base while Chris Davis serves as the designated hitter. Steve Wilkerson gets the nod at third, while Breyvic Valera plays second.

David Hess will start at Yankee Stadium for the first time in his young career. The rookie is 3-10 with a 5.22 ERA this season. If the righty is looking to show the organization that he has staying power in the rotation, today might be a good time to start.

With the first selection of the 2019 draft now secured, there’s no reason to hope for another loss. The Orioles may be 60.5 games out of first, but a win against the Yankees would be worth a smile.
