2018’s final gamethread: Orioles vs Astros, 3:05 p.m.

Game 162 is upon us and soon we can live day to day without the gloom of the Orioles hanging over us.

MLB: Texas Rangers at Baltimore Orioles Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

Ladies and gentlemen, we have arrived. After months of misery, the 2018 season is finally coming to an end. I think it’s safe to say that we’re all ready for it to end, but I know that for some of you, once the off season gets into full swing you’ll be longing for those Orioles. Admit it!

There will be a lot to discuss once the season has officially ended, but for now I suggest you take a moment to enjoy Adam Jones and Buck Showalter in this game, as they may both be gone in the near future. Regardless of your feelings of the two of them, they brought winning baseball back to Baltimore.

It’s sad that things turned so sour, so quickly. And it’s sad they didn’t reach that ultimate goal together and bring a World Series to Baltimore. But for me that doesn’t diminish what they have done for this team and this city. They are both an important part of Orioles history now.

For Adam’s possibly last game with the Orioles, Buck Showalter has him batting third, playing center field. I won’t lie, when I saw the lineup I got a little teary. Here is the whole thing:

  1. Cedric Mullins - LF
  2. Jonathan Villar - SS
  3. Adam Jones - CF
  4. Trey Mancini - 1B
  5. Tim Beckham - DH
  6. Renato Nunez - 3B
  7. DJ Stewart - RF
  8. Steve Wilkerson - 2B
  9. Caleb Joseph - C

Let’s go O’s!
