Saturday night Orioles game thread: at Rays, 6:10

David Hess got hit in the eye with a football yesterday. Tonight he’s on the mound in hopes of slowing down a hot Tampa Bay offense.

Is this the last “real” night of the baseball season in Baltimore? You can be honest. Some of the players, it seems, are ready for the fall.

It will remain the baseball season to us here at Camden Chat until the World Series champion is crowned sometime in October (or early November). That’s just the way it goes. But you would be forgiven if you stopped paying as much attention to the Orioles after tonight.

The O’s starter tonight, David Hess, is one of the players on the roster that the coaching staff is likely still evaluating. Will he be a starter long term? Is he a bullpen piece? Or is he nothing more than organizational depth that will bounce between Baltimore and Norfolk? Even on a 100-loss team, the games do still matter.
