It’s cold and snowy in Maryland, but baseball goes on down south

MLB: Baltimore Orioles-Workouts Jonathan Dyer-USA TODAY Sports

Happy snow day, Camden Chatters! Many of you in the Maryland area are seeing flakes outside your window as you get going on your day. It’s coming down pretty hard here in Columbia.

It’s not snowing in Sarasota, however. It’s sunny and 75 degrees down there with a high of 84. That sounds nice! Hopefully the Orioles enjoy it. They’re all working hard down there, one assumes. We’re just three days from the first Orioles spring training game of the year. It’ll be broadcast on MASN this Saturday at 1 p.m. Maybe I’ll watch it!

He picked the Orioles because he has the best chance to play on this team. Yeah, that is the case for the worst team in the majors probably.

Many players in camp have been putting in work at multiple positions. That includes Mountcastle, a player who doesn't yet seem to have a permanent position to call home.

The Orioles have announced that in honor of the recently passed Frank Robinson, they’ll be wearing a 20 patch on their uniforms in both spring training and the regular season.

Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You have two Orioles birthday buddies. Julio Borbon, who appears in six games for the 2016 Orioles, turns 33 today. It’s also the birthday of Jim Wilson, who pitched for the 1956 O’s. Wilson passed away in 1986, today would have been his 97th birthday.

On this day in 2016, the Orioles announced that they were signing Yovani Gallardo to a three-year deal that was later downgraded to a two-year deal due to the results of his physical. It really should have been downgraded to a zero-year deal.
