After a drama-filled series opening win in Toronto last night, the Orioles can ensure a series victory by taking the middle game tonight.
The Jays will start Marcus Stroman, who pitched seven shutout innings against Detroit his last time on a mound. In his career, Stroman has a 3.55 ERA in 10 starts against the Orioles.
After one spin through the O’s rotation, we come back around to starter Andrew Cashner this evening. He previously gave up six runs in four innings on Opening Day against the Yankees. In six career starts against the Blue Jays, Cashner has a 3.11 ERA.
As far as the Orioles lineup, Rule 5 pick Richie Martin gets the night off after playing the first four games in a row. Hanser Alberto will get his first start of the season, playing second base and batting ninth. Jonathan Villar, batting third, will shift over to shortstop. Trey Mancini settles into the DH spot and in 10 career at-bats against the Jays’ Stroman, he has five hits. So far this season, Mancini is 8-for-16 with a pair of home runs.
