Friday night Orioles game thread: at Twins, 8:05

Alex Cobb will face Minnesota for the second time in six days. Let’s hope this outing goes better than the first.

Last Saturday, the OriolesAlex Cobb took on the TwinsMartin Perez in Baltimore. Cobb got destroyed, and the Orioles lost, 16-7.

Welp, what do you say we run it back?

Once again, Cobb will square off against Perez and the Twins, this time at Target Field in Minnesota. Cobb, who gave up nine runs and three homers in in 2.2 innings last time around, will look to keep Twins hitters a little more off balance than before. For the sake of us all, let’s hope he succeeds.

Chris Davis is again on the bench against the southpaw Perez. Even with Davis’ hot-of-late bat, Brandon Hyde isn’t backing down from his plan to start him only in the most favorable matchups. Including tonight, Davis has started against only two of the 10 lefty starters the O’s have faced, and none since the home opener on April 4. In other lineup news, the red-hot Dwight Smith Jr. will hit out of the cleanup spot for the first time this year.
