We’ll keep this one short and sweet. The Tides, Baysox and Shorebirds all had their games postponed due to rain. Sometimes it feels like Mother Nature has it out for the teams down on the farm. Frederick nearly made it a clean sweep, but its game began after a short delay.
Frederick Keys 5 , Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Astros) 8 Final, 12
Cody Sedlock took the ball for Frederick and conducted himself well. The Orioles top pick in the 2016 draft pitched 5.2 innings, allowed two runs on two hits, and struck out nine. Sedlock walked two, and allowed a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Jack Keffer, a broadcast assistant for the Keys, noted that Sedlock had the secondary pitches working. The righty impressed in his first start, and the solo shot may have been his only true mistake all night.
Cody Sedlock‘s day is done. He goes 5.1 IP, 2ER, 2H, 2B, and a career-high 9SO.

Note: Beer’s game-tying single was a pop-up into left that wasn’t caught b/c of shift. Sedlock gives up one, hard contact hit and had great off-speed stuff.
Great first outing for him.
J.C. Escarra gave Sedlock and the Keys an early lead with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. The Orioles selected the switch hitting first baseman in the 15th round of the 2017 draft, and he’s hit .313 through Frederick’s first four games.
Mason McCoy worked a bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning to give the Keys the lead, but Steven Klimek surrendered the advantage in the top of the eighth. The game made its way to extra innings
The 10th inning began with a runner at second base, and he scored after a throwing error by Frederick on an attempted double play. Escarra led off the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single (that’s such a weird sentence to type), but Frederick failed to score again. Neither team scored in the 11th inning. Fayetteville broke the game open in the 12th.
