The Orioles will try to stretch their win streak to two games in a matchup with lefty Matthew Boyd and the Tigers

Dylan Bundy takes the hill in game two of the Tigers series tonight at Camden Yards. The first two months of the season have been drastically different for the right-hander. In April/March he was 0-4 with a 6.67 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and nine home runs allowed. In May, he’s 2-1 with a 2.28 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and three home runs allowed.

The big news of the day is DJ Stewart. He makes his 2019 Orioles debut tonight, batting sixth and playing right field. His spring was not particularly impressive, but he had been on a tear to start the year with Triple-A Norfolk; especially in the past month. It’s his first major league action since the end of last year, when he appeared in 17 games. The fact that the lefty-hitting Stewart is starting immediately — against one of the toughest left-handers in the American League — shows confidence in the 25-year-old.

The Tigers’ starter Matthew Boyd is among the AL pitching leaders in multiple categories. He’s ninth in innings pitched, fourth in WHIP, fifth in strikeouts and third in WAR (2.5). The Orioles’ batters will have their hands full tonight.
