Happy Sunday, Camden Chatters. If you are a father, I wish you a happy Father’s Day. If you’ve got a good father, wish him happy Father’s Day for me. If you had a good father who is no longer with us, I hope you’ll be able to remember him with love today.
A special Happy Father’s Day to my husband, Paul. You guys know him as that guy who writes for Camden Chat and Baltimore Baseball, but he’s a lot more than that. He spends his days taking care of our daughter, doing it with a patience that I can only wish to have. We would be lost without him.
But this website is about the Orioles, so I guess I should talk about them. But does anyone really want to? They played another sloppy game yesterday leading to another big loss to the Red Sox. Alex Church recapped it so you didn’t have to watch.
Toady the Orioles will try to avoid being swept by the Red Sox with their ace John Means on the mound. Red Sox starter Brian Johnson has been a starter through his career but this year has only made four appearances out of the bullpen. He’s just returning from the IL. Perhaps the Orioles can take advantage?

The Orioles are going all out to tell people for vote for Trey. There are videos, teammates in carts on Eutaw Street, and more. It's all very cute even if he's not one of the top three outfielders in the American League.

It appears that Camden Chat had something to do with the incorrect pie rumors. Our bad.
Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You have three Orioles birthday buddies. They are:
- Joe Saunders, hero of the 2012 Wild Card game. Saunders had a 10-year major league career with five teams, but will always be remembered in Birdland for out pitching Yu Darvish in the 2012 Wild Card game to give the Orioles their first post-season victory since 1997. Today is Joe’s 38th birthday.
- Chris Gomez, who made a long career out of being a utility player. Gomez played for the Orioles from 2005-07, one of eight teams he played for in his career. Gomez turns 48 today.
- Ernie Johnson, who appeared in 31 games out of the bullpen for the 1959 Orioles. His time with the Orioles game at the end of his career, after eight seasons with the Boston/Milwaukee Braves. Born in 1924, Johnson passed away in 2011 at the age of 87.
On this day in 1986, the Orioles traded Dennis Martinez to the Montreal Expos. After 10+ seasons with the Orioles, Martinez went on to pitch eight years in Montreal and 13 overall. He retired at the age of 44 in 1998 with 245 wins.
In 2015, the Orioles hit eight home runs against the Phillies. Chris “Chicken Parm” Parmelee hit two dingers in his Orioles debut and Manny Machado also had two. Jimmy Paredes, Ryan Flaherty, Chris Davis, and David Lough also joined in on the fun. The Orioles won that game 19-3.
