Sunday afternoon Orioles game thread: vs. Giants, 1:05 p.m.

Orioles look to win a series against one of the NL’s worst before hitting the road for a tour of the AL West.

Chances to win series won’t come around often for this Orioles team, let alone against teams that are having almost as tough a time winning games as they are.

Might as well make the most of this one.

The Giants (23-34) meet the Orioles (18-40) for the last time in their three-game set, which stands at one apiece after Baltimore rallied to win the first game and San Francisco quieted the Oriole bats in the second.

Gabriel Ynoa gets the ball for just his second start of the season, and probably won’t be asked to do much more than he did in his first start against Detroit: get to or through the fifth (he pitched four against the Tigers), keep the bats at bay (he allowed two runs) and give the Orioles lineup a chance to do more damage against their guy.

Their guy, in this case, is Jeff Samardzija, who will make his first start at Camden Yards since pitching in front of a raucous crowd of zero in the infamous “no fans” game in 2015. He’s 2-4 with a 3.83 ERA this year, but has had a rough May, allowing three or more runs in four of five outings while only completing six innings once.

The Orioles’ lineup is the same as last night’s with the exception of the last two nights. Pedro Severino catches in place of Austin Wynns and bats eighth, while Keon Broxton gets the start in center and will hit ninth. Stevie Wilkerson will start at second a day after manning center field.

Of note for the Giants: Buster Posey is out of the lineup after hurting his hamstring Saturday. Stephen Vogt will be behind the plate instead for San Francisco.
