Tonight’s starter Dylan Bundy has alternated bad and good months through the first half of the season. In April/March he pitched to a 6.67 ERA, in May it was 2.64, in June it was 5.68 and in 6.2 innings in July it’s 1.35. The O’s start the second half of the season tonight at Camden Yards, where Dylan Bundy has a 4.99 ERA in 2019 versus 4.25 on the road. In 12 career appearances (11 starts) against the Rays, Bundy has allowed 38 earned runs in 62.1 innings.
Tampa Bay center fielder Kevin Kiermeier is hitting .286 in 14 career at-bats against Bundy. Avisail Garcia is 6-for-12 with one home run versus Bundy and Joey Wendle is only 2-for-10.
So far into his young career, Yonny Chirinos has faced the O’s five times, including two starts. He’s 3-2 in those games with a 5.25 SO/W, 3.38 ERA and 1.05 WHIP. Graduating from the bulk guy role into a rotation member this year, he’s gone 7-4 in 100 innings with a 3.15 ERA and 0.99 WHIP.
Chance Sisco is holding down the cleanup spot yet again for the O’s. It’s his 11th time in 15 games started this year. Chris Davis, batting seventh, has one hit in nine career at-bats against Chirinos. It was a home run. Trey Mancini is hitting only .231 in 13 career at-bats against the Ray’s right-hander.
