Rochester (Twins) 5, Norfolk Tides 4
The Tides scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth and left the tying run stranded on second base. Jesus Sucre was the only Tides hitter with two hits, both doubles, and he also walked twice. Engelb Vielma, Jack Reinheimer and Ryan Mountcastle all added a two-bagger each. Austin Hays was 1-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts.
Chandler Shepherd had a tough night on the mound. Over 4.2 innings, he allowed five runs on nine hits, one walk and four strikeouts to raise his season ERA to 8.20. Hunter Harvey delivered 1.1 scoreless innings. Evan Phillips was dominant out of the ‘pen, striking out four in two innings of work. And finally Josh Lucas put up a scoreless frame in the top of the ninth.

Harrisburg (Nationals) 5, Bowie Baysox 3
The rehabbing Nate Karns started for the Baysox. He lasted two innings, serving up a run on two hits, one walk and one strikeout. It’s an improvement over what he had been doing down in the minors up to this point. Bruce Zimmerman followed with four innings, but surrendered four runs (two earned) on three hits, two walks and four strikeouts. Former first-round pick Cody Sedlock made his Double-A debut and put together three scoreless innings while walking three and striking out four.

Martin Cervenka was the standout offensive performer for Bowie. He walked three times in four plate appearances. Carlos Perez hit a solo home run. Mason McCoy went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Cedric Mullins, Ryan McKenna and Yusniel Diaz combined to go 0-for-11.

Lakewood (Phillies) 4, Delmarva Shorebirds 0 F/6
Robert Neustrom was the only Delmarva hitter to record a base hit. The rest of the lineup was 0-for-14 with two walks and five strikeouts in the rain-shortened loss. Adam Hall was 0-for-2 with a strikeout. Jean Carlos Encarnacion was 0-for-2 with a pair of K’s.
Nick Vespi had a mixed outing, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits, two home runs, two walks and five strikeouts over five innings as he was saddled with the loss. Adam Stauffer added a perfect inning, striking out one batter in the process, in relief.
