Saturday night Orioles game thread: at Angels, 9:07

The Orioles could win a four-game series for the first time this year. Dare we get greedy?

If you haven’t noticed, folks, the Orioles have actually been halfway decent lately! They’ve got a winning record over their last 23 games (12-11), and last night, they notched their 10th win in July. It’s the first time they’ve had double digit wins in a calendar month since August 2017.

They still have a chance to finish above .500 for July if they win three of the final four games of the month. It might be a big ask, but two of those contests are against the Angels, whom they’ve beaten in the first two games of the series.

With a victory tonight or tomorrow, the Orioles would notch their first four-game series win. Their previous four-game series this year have resulted in one split (in Boston April 12-15) and four series losses (against the A’s, Indians, Yankees and Rays), including a sweep in that Yankees set.

Will it happen tonight? The Orioles will send their opener, Aaron Brooks, to the mound for the fourth time. His most recent outing in Arizona was a dud, but before that, he’d opened effectively in two O’s wins. Trey Mancini, who has homered two straight nights, is in his usual No. 2 spot.
