With an off day looming tomorrow, the Orioles will try to salvage a series split against the Padres in San Diego this afternoon, one day after losing 8-1.

Tom Eshelman gets the ball for Baltimore in the series finale. He’s made four appearances with the O’s this year, including three starts. His last time out to the mound, he was able to lower his ERA from 6.91 to 5.79 with 4.1 innings of one-run ball against the Angels. In 18.2 total innings, he’s got a 1.44 WHIP.

The Padres’ starter Dinelson Lamet has made only four starts this year, going 0-2 with a 5.00 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. In limited action, the 27-year-old right-hander has shown an ability to miss bats, striking out 25 in 18 innings. He’s also allowed 2.0 HR/9.

Jace Peterson, who has received ample playing time since being recalled, will be stationed in left field today. Renato Nunez stays in the field at third base, while Chris Davis and Richie Martin return to the lineup at first base and shortstop, respectively.
