Remember the first week of the season? That was fun, wasn’t it? The Orioles, after losing on Opening Day, ran off a string of four consecutive wins to boast a 4-1 record on April 2.

While most fans probably expected the winning record wouldn’t last — and indeed, the O’s were under .500 less than a week later — they might not have expected that it was the last time the Orioles would win even three games in a row. Yet here we are, more than three months later, and the Birds haven’t repeated the feat.

Can they get off the schneid and bag a third straight win today? They’re in the right place to do it; during that previous four-game winning streak, the final two wins came in Toronto. And they’ve got the right guy on the mound: Andrew Cashner has rattled off four straight quality starts and is 8-3, and the Orioles are 10-6 when he starts. There’s no other O’s starter with whom the club has a winning record, not even All-Star John Means.

A victory today would clinch the Orioles’ fifth and final series win of the first half. Let’s see what happens, shall we?
