Friday night Orioles game thread: vs Blue Jays, 7:05

It’s Stranger Things night at Camden Yards tonight. I’ve never seen the show, but I’m sure it’s quality programming. And even though I know almost nothing about the premise, I do dig the Oriole Bird bobblehead being offered to fans with a specific ticket package.

I do appreciate that Major League Baseball does not wrap the players into these theme nights too much. If you have ever been to a minor league game on a theme night, it’s common to see the players wearing a uniform that reflects that night’s theme.

It’s a terrible look.

The uniforms never fit right. They appear to be made of some sort of material that is not meant to be sweated on. And they only vaguely still resemble the team that is donning them. Names on the back are removed. The team’s color’s are gone. It’s a mess.

But the theme nights are still pretty neat. The Orioles marketing team has been going all out to get butts in the OPACY seats this season. It hasn’t always been successful, but that’s life working for a one of the worst teams in the league. At the very least, the effort is appreciated.
