Sunday afternoon Orioles game thread: vs. Rays, 1:05

The Orioles look to force a series split and win their second consecutive game against the Rays.

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at Baltimore Orioles Scott Taetsch-USA TODAY Sports

Dylan Bundy’s last two starts against the Tampa Bay Rays really had only one thing in common. They were both starts against the Tampa Bay Rays...

Back on July 12, the Rays rocked Bundy to the tune of seven runs on eight hits in just one inning. The shellacking, an eventual 16-4 loss for Baltimore, elevated Bundy’s ERA from 4.65 to 5.28. The 37-pitch outing was the worst Bundy has looked all year, and marked his 11th loss of the season.

The start was quite the fall from a dominant, 3-0, victory on May 4. Bundy held the Rays to just three hits over 7.1 innings, and struck out four to nab his first win of the season. Which Bundy will show up against the Rays today? It’s an excellent question.

Trey Mancini is back in the lineup this afternoon after a scheduled day of rest. He’ll hit third and play first base. Anthony Santander, Stevie Wilkerson and DJ Stewart will handle the outfield duties, while Renato Núñez serves as the designated hitter. Jonathan Villar, Hanser Alberto and Richie Martin will round out the infield, while Pedro Severino gets the nod behind the plate.

The Orioles can salvage a series split with a victory today. Can they get it done? Let’s find out!
