Saturday night Orioles game thread: vs. Blue Jays, 7:05

The first two games of the series haven’t gone well so far. Can the Orioles procure a victory behind Dylan Bundy?

After their .500 month of July, the Orioles haven’t fared well in August so far. Against a fellow bad team in the Blue Jays, the O’s have dropped the first two games of the series by a combined score of 16-4.

Tonight, at least, they’ll send their one reliable, healthy starter to the mound in Dylan Bundy. With John Means on the injured list and Andrew Cashner long since traded, Bundy is the only O’s hurler who doesn’t seem one bad start away from getting kicked out of the rotation. And the last time he faced the Blue Jays on July 5, he held them to one run in 6.2 innings. That’s a good sign.

Meanwhile, the Birds have continued to busy themselves with roster moves. They’ve already DFA’d infielder Jose Rondon, who made only one appearance after the O’s claimed him on waivers July 30, popping out as a pinch-hitter Aug. 1. The Orioles called up Branden Kline, temporarily giving them a 14-man pitching staff and only two bench players. They also claimed lefty Ty Blach from the Giants — for whom he had a 4.56 career ERA in parts of four seasons — and optioned him to Norfolk. So we can probably expect to see him in an O’s uniform sometime this year. Perhaps his stay will be longer than Jose Rondon’s.
