Saturday night Orioles game thread: at Royals, 7:15

The Orioles blistered Royals pitching last night. Do they have another run-scoring surge in store?

Any chance Hanser Alberto has another five-hit performance in him tonight?

Nothing like a late-August game between the 45-89 Orioles and 47-89 Royals to get those juices flowing, huh? Talk about some can’t-miss baseball.

But hey, if the players have to show up for these games, I suppose the least we can do is watch them. Whichever teams loses this game will become the second 90-loss team in the majors this year, joining the 39-93 Tigers. That’s not exactly a number you want to reach, but it’s inevitable for both these clubs, sooner or later.

The O’s are coming off their biggest offensive explosion of the year, scoring a season-high 14 runs in Friday’s series opener. Could they have more offensive fireworks in store? You’d think so, based on the 6.56 ERA that Royals starter Jorge Lopez is bringing into the game, but that same Lopez defeated the O’s the last time he faced them, allowing just one run in five innings at Camden Yards a couple weeks ago. So who even knows? Let’s just see what happens.

Orioles lineup:

SS Jonathan Villar
RF Trey Mancini
DH Anthony Santander
LF DJ Stewart
2B Hanser Alberto
1B Chris Davis
3B Rio Ruiz
CF Stevie Wilkerson
C Chance Sisco
