In less than a week, the 2019 Orioles season will be over. Savor it now.
Their season-ending six-game road trip begins tonight in Toronto, where the O’s theoretically have a chance to win the season series if they sweep. I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you.
This is the Orioles’ final Monday game of the season. They haven’t won on a Monday since May 27, going 0-10 since.
Chandler Shepherd is making his second big league start, facing the same club he did the first time. Perhaps one day he’ll get to start against a non-Blue Jays team.
Meanwhile, Chris Davis’ game-winning home run yesterday apparently made an impression on Brandon Hyde, because he’s giving Davis a second consecutive start for the first time since Aug. 23-24. Austin Hays remains in center field. They’ll be taking on veteran right-hander Clay Buchholz, who is long removed from no-hitting the O’s in his second major league start a dozen years ago.
Orioles lineup:
SS Jonathan Villar
CF Austin Hays
DH Trey Mancini
RF Anthony Santander
3B Rio Ruiz
2B Hanser Alberto
1B Chris Davis
