The Orioles and Rangers are playing a baseball game tonight, mainly because they’re not allowed to just call off the rest of the season.
This game has little meaning for either team, other than 2020 draft pick position. Still, the O’s are one victory away from matching last year’s franchise-worst win total of 47. The 2018 club didn’t get that win until the last game of the season, so this year’s Orioles are well ahead of their pace.
Brandon Hyde is trotting out his 130th different batting order in the Orioles’ 141 games so far. Mason Williams, who has three hits in nine at-bats since getting promoted from Triple-A Norfolk, gets another start in center field. They’ll face Rangers rookie lefty Brock Burke, who has a 1.50 ERA in three major league starts so far.
On the hill for the Orioles is Dylan Bundy, who hasn’t faced any current Rangers hitter more than 12 times in his career. Shin-Soo Choo has two home runs off him.
