Can the Orioles earn a split against the last place Red Sox?

After an exciting walk off victory last night, the Orioles have broken their losing streak. Will they be able to turn things around and get a win streak going? If yes, they will need a win today.

Pitching for the Red Sox today is Zack Godley. I don’t recognize his name, he wears #68, and he has a 6.87 ERA. This makes me feel like the Orioles will definitely get shut out. The mlb.com game preview has this to say about him: “Godley was excellent in his last start, holding the Phillies to one run over four innings. Godley has held the Orioles scoreless over the 4 23 innings he’s faced them in his career.”

I might quibble with calling a four-inning start excellent, but that still doesn’t make me feel any better about the Orioles chances. Not only because I haven’t even mentioned Wade LeBlanc yet. Here’s hoping they prove me wrong!

The big lineup change for the Orioles is that the speedy Cedric Mullins is now batting leadoff. Cedric has looked a lot better at the plate than when we briefly saw him in 2019. I’d love if he could keep it up.

Orioles Lineup

  1. Cedric Mullins, CF
  2. Anthony Santander, RF
  3. Renato Núñez, 1B
  4. Pedro Severino, C
  5. Chance Sisco, DH
  6. Pat Valaika, 2B
  7. Ryan Mountcastle, LF
  8. Rio Ruiz, 3B
  9. Andrew Velazquez, SS

P: Wade LeBlanc (7.89 ERA)

Let’s go O’s!
