Wednesday night Orioles game thread: at Rays, 6:40

A win tonight brings the Orioles back to .500. Can they even things out at the halfway point?

Pat Valaika is back at short this evening after multiple throwing errors last night. The errors proved costly in a 4-2 loss, but the utility man will keep his shortstop privileges today. Valaika will have Rio Ruiz to his right and Hanser Alberto as a double play partner.

Alberto is batting second behind leadoff man Cedric Mullins. Mullins will play up the middle with Ryan Mountcastle and Anthony Santander handling the corners. Santander will bat third, and look to start a new streak after hitting safely in 18 consecutive games.

Bryan Holaday will handle the catching duty with Pedro Severino remains sidelined with a sore hip. Chance Sisco will serve as the designated hitter. Renato Núñez will play first and bat cleanup.

Asher Wojciechowski will start for Baltimore against righty Trevor Richards. Richards is making just his second start of the season, and the Orioles should see the ball better than they did against Tyler Glasnow last night.

The Orioles need a win to sit at .500 halfway through the season. Anyone that made a prediction for the O’s record through 30 games probably suggested a losing record. Can they prove us all wrong tonight?
